Computer Network Crash Delays Flights at U.S. Airports
UPDATED: Air traffic at more than 40 major U.S. airports was delayed -- sometimes up to hours -- Aug. 26 because a computer network carrying all flight plan data crashed, according to the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration). The data center where the outage occurred is in Hampton, Ga. The Department of Homeland Security declined to comment. - Thousands of commercial passenger and cargo aircraft were thrown off schedule at dozens of U.S. airports today, Aug. 26, unable to take off or land on time due to a major shutdown problem with the Federal Aviation Administration's flight control network.
